June 27 – August 16. Arrival on or near June 20 to open the Health Center and prepare for camper arrivals. Departure after closing of the Health Center on August 16. - One week minimum options also available between June 27 – August 16.
- Preference given to individuals available on our Opening Day, June 27th from 11‑4pm.
Camp Onaway is a seven‑week traditional summer camp for 90 girls age 9–15 with 45 staff, located on 30 woodland acres on the shores of Newfound Lake in New Hampshire, one of the cleanest lakes in the country. Onaway is a small, nonprofit camp dedicated to creating opportunities for each camper to realize her full potential. This emphasis on personal growth and development is reflected in the mission statement of this 113‑year‑old educational and recreational institution:

The Head Nurse/Health Care Provider oversees all aspects of the Health Center (Forty Winks) and the medical care of our summer community, 90 campers and approximately 45 staff. Camp is fast‑paced, high‑energy, and a fun environment. The Head Nurse is a vital member of our community and the role is rewarding. - A current RN or LPN in the State of New Hampshire (or willing to be).
- Able to provide basic health care for 115 people.
- Able to provide emergency care and/or work with local medical offices or hospitals as necessary.
- Dispense prescription and over‑the‑counter medication as needed.
- Work with part‑time nurses to ensure smooth transition of care during time off.
- Monitor safety and cleanliness procedures.
- Train medical staff as needed.
- Work with counselors and empower them to provide basic First Aid.
- Create clear guidelines and protocols for campers and staff that visit the Health Center.
- Follow ACA and NH DHHS rules and regulations for summer camps.
- The ideal candidate will have proven experience and be confident in the running of the Health Center. As a representative of Camp Onaway, employees must be trustworthy, professional, and friendly. Ideal candidates need to have a calm, positive attitude, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be flexible to the changing needs and priorities of camp. Candidates will also have a proven track record of confidentiality and professionalism in prior roles.
