D/N rotate
36 bed adult surgical unit that cares primarily for trauma patients and acute care surgical patients. This unit does have 2 negative pressure rooms that can serve our COVID population. This is a very busy unit where rehabilitating and supporting our patients needs is our highest priority. The most common diagnosis on the unit; traumas including: spinal cord injuries (new quadriplegics and paraplegics), traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic injuries occurring as a result of a trauma.
Acute care surgical diagnosis: hernia repair, small bowel obstructions, appendectomy, cholecystectomy. Travelers need to have experience on a fast pace medical surgical unit preferably with Level I trauma center experience but several years at a Level II trauma center is acceptable.
LNA ratios to patients 1:12
RN patient ratios: days 1:4 nights 1:5
Must have a minimum of 1.5 years of recent equivalent experience
Required experience:
- Chest tubes
- Tubes
- Drips such as Diltiazem, heparin, Lasix, insulin, or amiodarone
- Lines/tubes/drains for post-surgical patients
- Trachs/laryngectomies
- Telemetry
- Complex wounds
- Central lines - care and maintenance and blood draws
Required credentials:
- NH RN license or compact license (proof of state residency required)
- BLS
