Overview
Position Summary: The QC Inspector is responsible for inspecting materials, components, or parts upon receipt from Suppliers (Internal and External) to ensure they meet all outlined quality standards and specifications.
Responsibilities- Visually inspect and dimensionally measure incoming parts against specification drawings, using precision tools, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Identify and segregate non-conforming parts.
- Bring all nonconforming parts to the Material Review Board (MRB), ultimately driving the matter to resolution.
- Record nonconforming parts through NCMR’s. Collaborate with supplier through Supply Chain Management/Buyer, as well as the internal team to return parts via RMA, as required.
- Maintain NCMR’s, including closing them upon resolution.
- Communicate quality issues to Quality, Production, and Engineering teams.
- Perform secondary count of materials and products received, as needed for parts received in Inspection.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives (scrap reduction, process improvement).
- Support internal audits, customer audits, as needed.
- Perform other duties and assist the Quality Manager as assigned.
- Mechanical Inspection Experience, with exposure to GD&T.
- Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings, technical specifications, product certifications, manufacturing planning and inspection procedures.
- Has general understanding of industry and quality concepts and standards such as ISO, ASQ and NIST.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and ethics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Associate’s degree in business, or technical and/or equivalent work experience.
- 4 years' experience in manufacturing environment.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- On occasion, must be able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds at times.
