Overview
This position supports manufacturing processes at the Covestro South Deerfield Site, developing and maintaining quality systems for Thermoplastic Polyurethane and Polycarbonate film and sheet production. It ensures alignment with internal quality standards and customer requirements, including ISO
9001 implementation and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Safety:
Demonstrate the site’s safety culture, manage minor safety improvement projects, participate on safety teams, and handle Management of Change activities for simple changes. - Regional Technical Product Management (RTPM):
Support NA RTPM duties, create and maintain PPAP documents and library, provide specifications for raw materials, packaging, and films, maintain film specifications, support medical testing and IMDS requests, manage SAC tracking in JTS, submit Oekotex samples, and maintain RTPM and QA SharePoint sites. - Quality Management System:
Support the company‑wide QMS for ISO
9001:2015, serve on the self‑assessment team, maintain and update quality documentation, support QMS processes (Calibration, DCR, NCMR, MRB, Supplier Management), improve QMS practices, and respond to customer specifications, PPAP, and quality surveys. - Technical Support:
Provide day‑to‑day support to internal customers (Production, Engineering, GQM, GTPM, etc.) to ensure quality outcomes, evaluate quality issues, provide direction to technicians and process personnel, update quality documentation, support training, and contribute to product development trials. - Continuous Improvement:
Lead smaller CI teams, utilize CI tools, generate quality KPI data, and perform statistical analysis to determine process and product capability. - Business Support:
Apply business and economic principles in daily and project work, and act as the Voice of the External Customer / Voice of Business.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 1+ years of relevant experience.
- Preferred:
Chemical, Polymer, or Materials Engineering; ASQ certification (LSS Yellow/Green Belt, Quality Engineer, Quality Auditor). - Experience in extrusion and web handling, ISO
9001, 5S, and continuous improvement. - Proficiency in Minitab, JMP, SEEQ, and SAP is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, active listening, and timely feedback.
- Strong interpersonal skills, able to work with people at all levels, and balance safety, employee concerns, and business needs.
- Team player, self‑motivated, diligent, and self‑starter with self‑directive capabilities.
- Salary range: $75,032 – $139,316.
