Job Summary
Biological Technician (Part‑time)
Position # TMPPT
5884 – Up to 29 hours per week at $19.96 per hour.
Location:
Great Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, 89 Depot Road, Greenland, NH 03840.
- Conduct field research activities and lab analysis related to vegetation, wildlife, fish, and water quality in the Great Bay Estuary.
- Manage data, including storage and retrieval, for monitoring efforts conducted at GBNERR.
- Analyze data and write reports summarizing trends and findings to track coastal habitat and species changes.
- Respond to public, private, and governmental requests for technical presentations related to science conducted at GBNERR.
- Prepare and submit reports of technical information for public use and for the GBNERR education and training staff.
- Coordinate with GBNERR staff to convene research symposiums and workshops highlighting science within the Great Bay Estuary.
- Represent the Reserve and its research interests at conferences and university campuses; collaborate with Reserve staff, regional and local partners, and volunteers.
- Assist Reserve staff in implementing and recording process recommendations for recruitment of science fellows and interns, including selection and onboarding.
- Equivalent combination of 3 years of education and experience after high school in the biological, environmental, or physical sciences, or a related field.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) meeting agency minimum standards.
- Ability to perform physical tasks and work outdoors in inclement weather for extended periods, including working on a boat.
- Knowledge of species and habitats common to coastal New Hampshire.
- Ability to operate equipment needed for field research.
- Excellent verbal and written presentation skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work with databases.
- Ability to translate technical information for non‑technical audiences.
