Assistant Plant Breeder
The requested position is that of an assistant plant breeder. This individual must possess, or be in advanced pursuit of, a graduate degree (MS or PhD) in a field directly related to plant breeding and/or plant genetic research, and must have experience working with propagation, hybridization, maintenance, and trait evaluation of crop plants of interest.
Duties / Responsibilities- Typical plant breeding activities including hybridization, chromosome manipulation, propagation, and progeny evaluation (50%)
- Genetic analysis activities including DNA fingerprinting, cytometry, and DNA fingerprinting (50%)
- Graduate degree (MS or PhD) in plant breeding, plant genetic research, or a directly related field.
- Experience with propagation, hybridization, maintenance, and trait evaluation of crop plants of interest.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
Position supported by external sponsor funding. Continued employment in this role is contingent upon the availability of those external funds. If, for any reason, the sponsor funding is reduced or discontinued, employment may be subject to modification or termination in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
Pay Range: $15 to $35 /hour
Location: Durham
Salary Grade: Adjunct Hourly Staff 00
