Maintenance Technician

DescriptionSummary: Performs maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, and other physical structures in accordance with SOPs (standard operating procedures), internal requirements, manufacturer's specifications and safety policies. Paints structures, drywall and plaster, performs masonry work, and repairs plumbing fixtures and woodwork.
Duties and Responsibilities- Applies basic and some intermediate skills to perform functions in the execution of existing procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment within assigned area.
- Resolves routine questions and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher levels.
- Performs preventative maintenance on building systems, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and control systems and related components; tests system competency and component devices and evaluates performance. Assists management in planning and scheduling preventative maintenance work and recommends approaches to preventative maintenance programs.
- Repairs and maintains a variety of facilities systems, components and structures; repairs building plumbing, low-voltage, and line voltage electric systems, door hardware, fire and life safety protection equipment/systems, sprinkler systems, sensors and related hardware and software; constructs and maintains indoor/outdoor facilities, fans, lights and related; conducts structural inspections for safety.
- Maintains grounds in clean and orderly manner including mowing, trimming, aerating and fertilizing lawns; sets sprinklers; replaces broken sprinkler heads; adjusts automatic time clocks and system pressure if necessary; weeds; trims tree branches that create hazardous situations; maintains, paints, and repairs fire lanes around buildings and property; may clean debris from grounds, pathways, and parking lots; maintains mowers and other related grounds equipment.
- Entry-level job with little or no prior relevant experience.
- Work is prescribed and completed with close supervision and little autonomy.
- Duties are clearly defined, and methods and tasks are described in detail.
- Able to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Regularly performs repetitive tasks.
- Regularly possesses manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- High School with 1+ years’ experience or AA/AS/Technical School with 0-1 years’ experience.
- Comply with the EH&S Policy and applicable regulatory and company EH&S rules and requirements.
- Report to supervision conditions or practices that are either unsafe or that may adversely impact the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
- Attend scheduled EH&S training program.
- Actively support the organization’s efforts to meet or exceed EH&S goals and plans.
- Recommend improved EH&S practices.
