Carpentry, Building & Residential Construction
Lighthouse Contracting Group builds custom homes and remodels around the Lakes Region, and our reputation gets rebuilt every day — one tight miter, one clean jobsite, one happy homeowner at a time. We're looking for a Skilled Carpenter who takes that personally.
This isn't a warm body with a tool belt posting. We're a tight, motivated crew with real systems, real mentorship, and zero tolerance for chaos jobsites. If you've been carrying a disorganized company on your back, come see what it's like when the materials are actually onsite when you need them.
One more thing: we're hiring for a full-time W2 spot first and foremost - but if you're a well-qualified 1099 independent contractor with your own insurance and the skills to back it up, we'd like to hear from you too. Same standards, same clean jobsites.
What You'll Actually Do- Rough and finish carpentry on high-end residential remodels — framing to trim, windows to built-ins.
- Read real blueprints (plan, elevation, section) and build exactly what's on them.
- Work with a Project Manager who handles the client circus so you can build.
- Keep a jobsite so clean the homeowner brags about it to the neighbors.
- Level up through our 50 Skills Checklist with a dedicated Head Carpenter & Mentor. Yes, we actually train people. On purpose.
- You can add fractions on a tape measure in your head and it slightly annoys you when others can't.
- You know why a 23-gauge pin exists, and when a 15-gauge is the wrong answer.
- You scribe to the wave in a 100-year-old wall instead of caulking your sins away.
- You'd rather flag a problem today than hide it behind drywall forever.
- You have a driver's license, dependable transportation (truck preferred), and your own hand and cordless tools.
- You've got 10+ years in residential remodeling and construction, and the work to prove it.
- If you're applying as a 1099 sub: you carry your own liability insurance (workers' comp where
- required), and you run your business as professionally as you run your saw.
- Not a figure it out alone shop — you'll have a PM, a Lead PM, a mentor, and a safety officer in your corner.
- Not a production-line tract builder — this is custom work in real people's homes.
- Not disorganized — schedules live in Job Tread, materials show up, and everyone knows who holds the baton.
- $29-$35/hr, based on experience and skill level.
- $3,900 sign-on bonus ($325 after month one, $325 monthly thereafter).
- 6 Paid holidays plus your birthday and vacation time.
- SIMPLE IRA with company match + profit sharing.
- $455/mo. Health insurance stipend.
- A crew that actually likes each other, and a company that promotes from within.
- For 1099 independent contractors: competitive rates based on skill and scope, steady work with a builder that pays on time, and jobsites where the materials are there and the plan is clear.
