Job Description Summary

The Maintenance team is responsible for keeping facilities operating efficiently, repairing any problems when they are found, and performing preventive maintenance on buildings, structures and grounds. Maintenance will be required to perform a wide range of repair tasks around a facility.

Responsibilities

Perform mid‑level mechanical repairs at our buildings, including plumbing, lighting, heating, air conditioning, farm equipment maintenance, etc. Check, install, and repair equipment such as chain feed systems, line auger feed systems, Rotem controllers, watering systems, ventilation systems, generators, wells and septic systems. Repair wooden structures, work with chicken wire, replace electrical and plumbing fixtures, cut Plexiglas to fit aluminum frames, conduct routine maintenance on buildings, grease equipment, ensure equipment is operating properly and repair if needed.

Work with PVC waterline and fittings, install Cat6 wiring and security cameras, install PVC electrical conduit, pull electrical wires through conduit, clean floor drains, deliver parts to different locations. Pick up supplies from vendors, attend morning meetings, engage in safety videos and training, sweep work area, empty trash cans, conduct safety checks of emergency lighting, GFI outlets and fire extinguishers, put inventory away and organize stockroom.

Work with other maintenance team members until competent and learn how proprietary equipment works and how to repair it. Other duties may be assigned, including those not listed on this job description.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC, preferably in an agriculture‑based setting.
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, flooring, masonry, electrical, welding, roofing, machinery, mechanics, heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC).
  • Able to use basic hand tools.
  • Basic understanding of lawn mowers, tractors, backhoes, skid steers and loaders.
  • Able to read, understand and follow task‑specific instructions, such as lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
  • Own tools including a basic socket set, wrenches, skill saw, grinder, drill, sawzall, volt meter, level and tape measure.
  • Physical ability to walk/stand for extended periods, use measuring tools, move safely over uneven terrain, carry/lift up to 40lb, perform repetitive tasks requiring hand/wrist dexterity, work from aerial lifts at around 20ft with fall restraint, use fixed and portable ladders.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment such as ear muffs, ear plugs, safety glasses, welding helmets, work gloves, work boots, harnesses, etc.
  • Ability to drive a maintenance van to and from work sites.
Physical Requirements
  • Walk/stand for extended periods; use measuring tools and measure precisely for cutting with power and/or hand tools.
  • Move safely over uneven terrain, such as rough ground and floors with shavings.
  • Frequently carry/lift objects and equipment weighing up to 40lb., including lumber and metal building materials.
  • Perform repetitive tasks requiring hand/wrist dexterity.
  • Work from aerial lift with fall restraint around 20ft.
  • Pick up materials stored at ground level; apply 50lb. of force to push carts.
  • Frequently kneel/squat; perform tasks squatting at floor level or on knees.
  • Use both fixed and portable ladders (step and/or extension ladders).
  • Use a variety of tools, including drills, hammers, saws, metal grinders, blowtorches, and welders.
  • Use power tools, but some hand tools are also used.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment for identified tasks.
Work Conditions

May be exposed to airborne particles such as dust and dander; to noise levels sometimes exceeding the 85‑dBA action level set by OSHA. Employers will provide proper hearing protection. May be exposed to chemicals such as detergents and disinfectants. May be exposed to very hot temperatures and very cold temperatures (snow, sleet, ice). May be exposed to farm‑related smells and foul odors.
