Diesel Technician / Diesel Mechanic

Hourly Pay: $20–$40/hour, based on experience

What You’ll Do
  • Diagnose diesel and commercial vehicle problems using modern diagnostic equipment and software
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, engine, and drivability issues
  • Repair or replace major components, including engines, transmissions, steering systems, and braking systems
  • Diagnose, service, and repair air brake systems
  • Develop repair plans after identifying the root cause of the problem
  • Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled services
  • Handle routine work including oil changes, brake checks, wheel and tire service, balancing, and alignments
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, serviced vehicles, and parts
  • Document your findings and completed work clearly
  • Communicate professionally with technicians, service staff, and customers when needed
  • Keep your bay, tools, and work areas clean, organized, and safe
  • Take ownership of the repair from diagnosis to completion
What You Bring
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Diesel, automotive, or related technical training and/or hands-on mechanical experience
  • Understanding of gas and diesel engine systems
  • Familiarity with automotive or commercial vehicle electrical systems
  • Ability — or willingness to learn — to use diesel diagnostic software and scan tools
  • Comfortable using mechanical and electrical tools
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Basic computer skills
  • Clear communication and teamwork
  • Valid driver’s license
  • The willingness to keep learning, improving, and taking on more
