Crisis Interventionist
Prospect Mountain Schools is hiring for a Crisis Interventionist to provide immediate, short-term support to students experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental-health-related crises in the K12 school setting. This position will work collaboratively with the school social worker, administrators, counselors, school psychologists, teachers, and families to de-escalate situations, restore safety, and connect students and families with appropriate ongoing support. The role also includes proactive prevention work and data tracking in order to contribute to a safe, positive school climate.

Responsibilities:
- Crisis Response & Stabilization
- Respond promptly to crisis calls across the district to assess risk and support students in acute emotional or behavioral distress, implementing evidence-based de-escalation strategies to ensure the safety of the student and school community.
- Chair the Crisis Team - Provide prevention training/resources, intervention, and effective response for school staff, students, and parents during and in the aftermath of a crisis.
- Family & Student Support
- Build relationships with students to reduce risk factors and increase protective factors.
- Provide individual or small-group skill-building sessions in areas such as emotional regulation, conflict resolution, coping strategies, and stress management.
- Assist with school wide MTSS systems and restorative practices.
- Monitor students with identified risk factors and provide check-ins or targeted interventions.
- Assist parents and caregivers in accessing and utilizing school and community resources.
- Staff Support & Training
- Provide coaching and professional development to staff on de-escalation, trauma-informed practices, and behavior intervention strategies.
- Participate in multidisciplinary teams such as MTSS, crisis response teams, threat assessment teams, or 504/IEP meetings as needed.
Qualifications:
- Required:
Bachelor's degree in social work or related field. - Experience working with children or adolescents in educational, clinical, or social service settings.
- Demonstrated skill in crisis intervention, behavior management, and de-escalation.
- Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick, well-reasoned decisions under pressure.
