Non CDL Driver I – Job Overview

Join Our Community of Food People! The Non CDL Driver I is a delivery position responsible for driving a company vehicle limited to a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 14,900. The position will be assigned stops to deliver food service products with a high level of service to customers. Commercial or professional driving experience preferred, but not required. Must meet the medical requirements of the Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).

All functions must be completed in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with the Department of Transportation  and Compensation

Schedule: Monday – Saturday, with two days off (must work Saturdays).
Pay: $25.50 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Load and unload the vehicle for multi‑stop deliveries.
  • Transport deliveries by driving assigned vehicles.
  • Use hand truck to move product from the delivery vehicle into the customer location, including going up and down stairs as necessary.
  • Accurately record delivery information, operating a hand scanner and all company‑required documentation.
  • Responsible for the proper documentation and disposition of any return product.
  • Communicate delivery–customer issues to the proper authority (Customer Service, Territory Manager, Transportation Supervisor, etc.).
  • Deliver product to each of the designated stops following the stop sequence provided for the day.
  • Unload product safely and stage product in the space(s) designated by the customer.
  • Check invoice for complete delivery. Process paperwork and damaged merchandise if any.
  • Collect payments if necessary.
  • Monitor refrigeration system on the delivery vehicle consistently for safety; follow all safe food‑handling procedures.
  • Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections such as monitoring fluid levels, tires, windshield wash and replenishing fuel.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license issued by the state of legal residence with proper endorsements if required.
  • No more than two convictions in the past two‑year period for traffic violations, no DUI convictions in the past three years, no driver’s license suspensions in the past three years.
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical.
  • One year of multi‑stop delivery experience preferred or six months local delivery experience and/or food service industry experience.
  • Hand cart delivery experience preferred.
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and safety regulations.
  • Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Must pass pre‑employment testing (including a Background Check).
  • Have knowledge of area and/or map reading abilities.
  • Use safe lifting and loading techniques.
  • Great interpersonal/customer service skills.
  • Availability to work on weekends, holidays and overtime to service customers.

Physical Requirements

Climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, twisting, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 lbs. consistently, 100 lbs. occasionally. Work is performed primarily outdoors and may involve extreme weather conditions.
