Summary

This position represents Granite State Scenic Railroad as a tour guide, ensuring passengers receive a safe and pleasant journey through friendly and informed interaction. The role is part‑time/seasonal with a variable work schedule and is employed by an affiliated company of Patriot Rail.

Job Details

New Pay Rate: $19.06 per hour.

Part‑time/seasonal position with variable schedule.

Dress Code

Appropriate work attire; safety clothing such as safety vest, gloves, safety glasses, and any other special attire required to perform the job. Comfortable shoes and dark pants or shorts are required.

Qualifications
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Capable of pedaling a bike with light exertion during scheduled rail bike excursions.
Responsibilities
  • Attend daily job briefings as scheduled.
  • Guide tours while pedaling rail bikes and lift rail bikes when required.
  • Perform track inspections and maintain a safe environment for guests and employees.
  • Maintain rail bike equipment and sanitize bikes between trips.
  • Perform safety speeches at the beginning of each tour.
  • Flag crossings when necessary.
  • Provide First Aid/CPR/AED in the event of emergencies.
  • Provide information and offer additional services to guests to enhance their experience.
  • Deal professionally, courteously, and tactfully with the public and coworkers.
  • Attend safety briefings (pre‑trip) and verify assigned car is prepared and ready.
  • Assist in loading and unloading passengers and maintain safety rules.
  • Be knowledgeable about the train, individual cars and scenic highlights; respond to inquiries.
  • Provide superior customer service and resolve conflicts when they arise.
  • Read, write and communicate effectively with co‑workers and the general public.
  • Flexibility to work nights, weekends and/or holidays, especially during the Fall peak season.
  • Perform other duties as requested and maintain current working knowledge of all events, services, and procedures.
Physical Demands / Work Environment

Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, climb steps, handle objects, reach with hands and arms, write, talk, type, and hear. Occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs, stooping, bending, and kneeling. Associate may be required to sit, stand, and perform tasks in various weather conditions.
