Staff Accountant

Supports the Senior Accountant and Manager in carrying out the monthly, quarterly, annual and non-routine functions for the Yale New Haven Health System, Hospital and applicable subsidiaries. This individual should utilize his/her strong accounting, technical and communication skills and leverage a positive attitude and team approach to contributing to the department's productivity, spirit and future. Position requires the desire and ability to grow and cross train within the organization.

The staff accountant position may involve a variety of technical areas, including all balance sheet/P&L accounts and may involve cooperation and partnership with other functional areas of the system. EEO/AA/Disability/Veteran

Responsibilities
  • Monthly financial statements
  • Journal entries
  • Account analyses and reconciliations
  • Audit support.
  • Ad-hoc analysis and support responses to information requests from Senior Management
  • Consolidations and inter-company reconciliations
  • May include related financial functions such as intercompany and other billing
  • Pension accounting
  • Technical research and related summary position papers
Qualifications

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related financial field

EXPERIENCE

1 years' experience, preferably in a health care environment, including general accounting, financial analysis, accounts receivable and financial statement preparation or recent graduate with experience in related field. Solid knowledge in the preparation and interpretation of financial reports and the month-end close process

SPECIAL SKILLS

Familiarity with personal computers and Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel and Word essential, other software package knowledge a plus.
