Our client, a reputable law firm
, is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day accounting and ensure impeccable trust accounting (IOLTA) compliance. The ideal candidate understands matter-based billing, retainers, and 3-way reconciliations, and can partner closely with attorneys and admin staff.

• Maintain the general ledger
  ; process A/P and A/R, retainers, and client refunds.
• Prepare and send client invoices
  ; post payments and apply to matters accurately.
• Perform monthly 3-way trust reconciliations (bank, client ledger, trust ledger) and ensure IOLTA compliance.
• Track client costs/advanced expenses
  , reimbursements, and write-offs.
• Reconcile bank/credit card statements; research and clear variances promptly.
• Prepare journal entries (accruals/deferrals/reclasses) and maintain prepaid/fixed asset schedules.
• Support month-end close
  , partner distributions, and financial reporting.
• Prepare 1099s and provide documentation for audits and compliance reviews.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

• Associate's or Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance (or equivalent experience).
• 2-4+ years bookkeeping/accounting;
  law firm trust accounting strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Quick Books and legal billing platforms (
  Clio, Tabs3, Practice Panther, Timeslips, Litify
  , or similar).
• Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivots) and exceptional attention to detail.
• High integrity, confidentiality, and clear communication with attorneys and staff.

• Experience with IOLTA rules in multi-state environments.
• Familiarity with eBilling portals and LEDES formats.
• Exposure to cash- vs. accrual-basis reporting and partner comp models.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company's 401(k) retirement plan.
