Staff Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to support financial operations for a contract position based in New Haven, Connecticut. This role is ideal for an accounting specialist who can manage core accounting activities, maintain accurate records, and contribute to timely tax and reporting processes. The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entries, and corporate tax matters while working effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and record journal entries to ensure financial transactions are documented accurately and completely.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, investigating discrepancies and resolving issues in a timely manner.
• Support the preparation and review of corporate tax filings and related documentation in compliance with applicable regulations.
• Manage sales tax reporting activities, including calculation, filing support, and account reconciliation.
• Assist with month-end and period-end close processes to help deliver accurate financial statements on schedule.
• Analyze accounting data and supporting records to identify inconsistencies and improve reporting accuracy.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather financial information needed for tax, audit, and accounting requirements.
