OverviewReporting to the Chief Communications Officer, the Communications Coordinator will contribute to the Yale Center for British Art (YCBA)’s communications and marketing efforts and provide administrative support to the communications, design, and editorial areas in the Division of Public Engagement.
Responsibilities- Support media relations, marketing, and digital communications; assist with strategic communication planning and execution of press and marketing campaigns (maintaining press databases, compiling targeted distribution lists).
- Create content for digital and print platforms, including e‑communications and e‑newsletters for YCBA.
- Monitor and assist with social media; collaborate with university departments and external partners.
- Support university‑wide and external events and initiatives.
- Support website and digital projects by creating articles, videos, and multimedia formats that meet editorial standards; make website updates and create events and webpages.
- Coordinate and execute YCBA e‑communications and e‑newsletters; provide technical and production assistance for in‑person and online programs, including live streams on the museum’s You Tube channel and post‑production processes (editing, closed‑captioning, uploading).
- Update project‑management timelines; maintain press databases and compile targeted distribution lists; respond to public and media inquiries; manage information and digital assets by maintaining image databases and ensuring compliance with YCBA intellectual‑property policies and procedures.
- Provide administrative support to the communications, design, and editorial departments, including financial tasks such as processing invoices, setting up contracts, updating project‑management timelines, and calendar management.
Some evenings and weekend work may be required.
Required Skills & Abilities- Excellent written communication skills; proven ability to edit and proofread with strong attention to detail. Writing sample required.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team; prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong computer and technology skills; intermediate proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with content management systems and CRMs; ability to learn technical skills including managing website content, social media, email marketing software, and other programs.
- Skilled in supporting the preparation of communications and PR content and events, including gathering information and coordinating approvals for departmental materials.
- Proficient in providing administrative support, including calendar management, meeting coordination, event logistics, drafting correspondence and reports, maintaining contact lists, databases, and filing systems.
Ability to learn new technical skills, including using video and audio equipment as well as website content creation; social media and email marketing software; and video editing software. Previous experience in a museum or cultural institution.
