Under the direction of Nursing Management and in cooperation with members of the patient care team, the Information Associate achieves desired outcomes in customer service, quality, communication, medical records management, and documentation. The role requires the ability to work in a fast‑paced, changing environment, respond to unpredictable situations with sound judgement, and possess excellent customer service skills.

Responsibilities- Screens and refers incoming phone calls and directs patients and families to ensure accurate and timely department communication and a positive representation of the department.
- Provides support and clerical assistance to patients, families, staff (departmental and hospital), and community contacts with the highest regard for customer satisfaction.
- Develops and performs a variety of duties in support of staff and enhances the efficient functioning of the department.
- Maintains departmental statistics including updates, reports, communications, and census for staff and management.
- Performs related duties as directed by supervisor.
- Shares responsibility for inventory of office supplies and forms to ensure efficient utilization of department resources and staff time.
- Assists in cross‑training new employees on the functions of support staff.
- Demonstrates commitment to personal career growth and competency to facilitate personal growth and job satisfaction.
Education
Graduation from high school including or supplemented by secretarial coursework, or equivalent training and experience.
Experience
Two to three years of administrative clerical experience, preferably in a patient care environment. Prior computer usage required.
Special Skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal, coordinative, and organizational skills. Ability to read computer screens, forms, and other documents and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to write clearly and legibly. Ability to make simple mathematical computations. Substantial keyboarding skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, changing environment and respond to unpredictable situations with sound judgment and excellent customer relation skills.
