Position Overview:
The Attendance Secretary is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely student attendance records and ensuring student safety through daily monitoring and follow-up. This position performs responsible clerical and data entry functions, communicates regularly with students, families, and staff, and provides attendance-related reports to administrators and faculty. The Attendance Secretary works independently within established policies and procedures to support school operations and promote student accountability and well-being.

Education & Experience:
High school diploma required. Associates degree in Business Administration, Secretarial Science, or related field. Minimum of 3 years of increasingly responsible office administrative experience, preferably in a school environment. Additional experience may be substituted for education requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of bookkeeping practices, financial recordkeeping, and accounting procedures. Ability to maintain accurate financial records and perform calculations with attention to detail. Ability to review and process financial documentation for accuracy and compliance. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google applications, and ability to learn district-specific software applications. Ability to learn departmental and State Department of Education financial applications. Ability to organize work independently and manage multiple financial processes.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with staff, students, and the public.
Physical and Cognitive Demands:
Work in this classification is performed primarily in an office environment with routine and intermittent exposure to computer screens. The position requires repetitive motions associated with operating office equipment, including keyboards, calculators, check signers, fax machines, and copiers. The employee may be required to lift and move light to moderate weights such as office supplies. Visual acuity correctable to 20/20 and hearing correctable to within normal limits are required.
Adaptive technology may be utilized as appropriate. The role may involve moderate stress associated with meeting deadlines and interacting with students, parents, teachers, and the public.
