The General Counsel will be responsible for overseeing all legal, regulatory, compliance, and risk management functions. This individual will partner closely with executive leadership, operations, finance, and clinical teams to support strategic growth while ensuring regulatory integrity and risk mitigation.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist with the negotiation and management of commercial payor agreements (MCOs, value-based arrangements)
- Vendor and services contracts
- Professional services and referral arrangements
- Contract risk review and standardization of templates/processes
Healthcare Regulatory & Compliance
- Oversight of compliance with federal and state healthcare laws (HIPAA, AKS, FCA, licensing frameworks, etc.)
- Licensing applications, renewals, audits, and regulatory responses
- Development and enhancement of enterprise compliance infrastructure
- Advisory support for utilization management and payor disputes
Employment & Labor Law
- Executive employment agreements and compensation structures
- Restrictive covenants and incentive arrangements
- Workplace investigations and HR advisory support
M&A and Strategic Transactions
- Legal oversight of acquisitions and expansion initiatives
- Negotiation of transaction documents
- Post-close integration support
- Lease negotiations and property acquisitions
- Zoning, land use, and municipal engagement
- Regulatory positioning for residential healthcare facilities
Corporate Governance
- Board advisory and governance support
- Entity structuring and corporate record maintenance
Ideal Candidate
- 3+ years of legal experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to the Connecticut Bar
- Healthcare regulatory background preferred
- Comfortable operating as a hands‑on legal leader in a lean executive environment
- Business‑oriented, pragmatic, and solutions‑focused
- High emotional intelligence
