Overview
The Senior Superintendent is responsible for leading day‑to‑day field operations on assigned project(s), ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans, specifications, quality standards, and schedule requirements. This role provides leadership to field teams, coordinates trade partners and self‑perform crews, and works closely with project leadership to drive successful project delivery from mobilization through closeout.
Duties & Responsibilities Crew Supervision- Directly supervises and coordinates field personnel, trade partners, and self‑perform crews as assigned.
- Ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project quality standards and sequencing requirements.
- Provides field leadership, coaching, and direction to support team development and project execution.
- Maintains strong team morale through clear communication, accountability, and consistent field presence.
- Reviews project plans, specifications, logistics plans, and scope requirements with project leadership prior to work activities commencing.
- Organizes daily work activities and coordinates labor, equipment, materials, and trade partners to meet project priorities.
- Communicates project progress, field constraints, manpower needs, and potential risks to project leadership on a regular basis.
- Oversees layout, inspections, mock‑ups, and quality control checkpoints to ensure work is installed correctly the first time.
- Tracks daily field progress, manpower, production, and sequencing against project schedule goals.
- Coordinates material deliveries, equipment needs, inspections, and trade sequencing to avoid delays.
- Identifies potential schedule impacts, field conflicts, and constructability concerns, escalating them promptly with recommended solutions.
- Develops and implements recovery plans in partnership with project leadership to maintain schedule commitments.
- Conducts daily safety checks, reinforces site safety expectations, and ensures safe work practices across all field activities.
- Leads toolbox talks and ensures field personnel and trade partners comply with OSHA standards, company safety policies, and project‑specific safety requirements.
- Completes daily reports, including manpower, progress updates, material deliveries, inspections, safety observations, and progress photos.
- Maintains accurate field records and communicates critical updates, issues, and next steps to the project team.
- 8+ years of construction field leadership experience, with prior experience as a Superintendent or Senior Superintendent on commercial construction projects.
- Strong understanding of construction means and methods, field sequencing, trade coordination, logistics, quality control, and schedule management.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, logistics plans, and project documentation.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred;
- First Aid/CPR certification required.
- Strong communication, leadership, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to lead in a fast‑paced field environment and adapt quickly to changing project priorities.
Construction jobsite and warehouse conditions, which include exposure to high temperatures; cool/cold temperatures; weather conditions, and loud noises. Some general office and construction trailer working conditions. Job site walking.
Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level and spend additional time on the physical job site or construction trailer. Job site walking.
