Summary

The Assistant Program Director (APD) will ‘live the Oxford Royale brand’, representing all of the Company’s core values and helping the US Campus Program Director (PD) to manage a team of staff and a campus of international students. This leader will ensure that the highest standards are met continuously in academic delivery, safety, welfare, organisation and general student comfort. The APD will oversee and manage the Pastoral Team of Junior Deans and Counselors, who deal with the day to day demands presented by 16-18 year old students.

This team will look to the APD for guidance on matters of welfare, safeguarding, scheduling and student discipline. The PD will also require the support of the APD on maintaining the highest standards of organisation and discipline in the execution of all of the Pastoral Team’s activities, leading Academic Enrichment in support of the Program Curriculum. Resident on campus for over four weeks, the role involves a high level of responsibility, and requires excellent organisational, delegation and managerial skills with extensive suitable experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Line manage the Junior Deans and Counselors for an effective and collaborative team culture and environment
  • Support the PD in the delivery of the Oxford Royale Summer Program
  • Inspire a love of learning through leading Academic Enrichment activities which follow the new standardised Program Model
  • Ensure all activities led by the Pastoral Teams are challenging, relevant and appropriate to the changing needs of multicultural students
  • Provide a duty of care for all staff and students on campus, supporting individuals where necessary
  • In the week leading up to the Program delivery stage, lead main planning duties, to:
    • Assemble their team of pastoral staff and ensure necessary onboarding and compliance tasks are completed
    • Review staff training completion status for pastoral staff (online and in person pre-summer)
    • Review all risk assessments on workshops, social events, off-campus visits and coach excursions
    • Support the PD and Site Manager in planning for the arrival day as well as the next departure day, making sure that the students will be met and transported safely from the airport, arrive safely at the venue and then be shown their room and introduced to the staff and the programme ahead
  • During the delivery stage, lead the Pastoral support of the whole Program on campus, to:
    • Implement the Academic Enrichment program and continually build knowledge and a passion for excellence across all pastoral staff
    • Support the PD to ensure integrated execution of the summer programme and timetable; this includes guest speakers, workshops, visits, social events and coach excursions; be responsible for the safeguarding, health and safety on campus and raising any concerns to Oxford Royale Head Office
    • Maintain an environment and a code of behaviour which promotes and secures excellent pastoral care, student welfare and high standards
Position Details
  • This role will be based at our summer sites in Yale
  • Working hours will be approximately 60 hours per week across 6 days.
  • Our courses are for international students aged 16-18 and run in 2-week sessions from 28th June - 11th July & 12th July - 25th July 2026
  • The weekly salary range is from $2,000- $2,500 depending upon experience and assigned responsibilities
  • Mandatory training and campus set up will take place before student arrivals.
  • Meals and accommodation are provided.
Person Specification
  • Able to lead a team to achieve the highest academic pastoral standards
  • Strong as a Team Player to support managing a campus of students
  • Highly organised and able to continuously prioritise and resolve welfare and safeguarding issues
  • Able to stand up for consistent representation of the OR brand values in any scenario
  • Approachable and personable while maintaining authority at all times.
Essential Qualifications / Experience
  • A substantial teaching career to at least Departmental Head level or suitable equivalent
  • Extensive pastoral and safeguarding experience working with children and young people
  • Successful track records in schools management, possibly internationally
  • Exceptional academic qualifications and achievements
Desirable Experience
  • Knowledge of the international education industry and how vacation courses operate
  • Travel, airline, hotel, or event management roles
  • Business achievements in positions involving, for example, customer service, welfare, hospitality and project management.
