ESL - Beginners Instructor (Part-Time)

Level: Classroom Instructor

Education:

Bachelor's degree with 088 teaching in ESL or 111 Tesol endorsement

Experience:

Minimum 1-2 years teaching ESL in adult education setting

Additional Requirements:

Computer literate and familiar with Google Classroom. 1-2 years teaching ESL in adult education setting.

This position is a part-time position; 5 hours (Evening hours)

Homebound hourly rate $40.00/ hr.

Position Summary:

Teaching English at a beginners level to multilingual adult learners. Instruction will be based on CELP standards with a strong emphasis on improving conversation skills. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge at this level of instruction with students from a variety of cultural backgrounds and native languages. Bilingual Spanish/ English speakers are preferred. Our goal is to provide ESL instruction to students that will enable them to transition into intermeditate/ advanced class.

Minimum Qualifications /Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

* Valid CT teaching certification with 088 ESL instruction endorsement

* Ability to interpret data from placement test to inform instruction

* Flexibility in lesson planning and instruction

* Knowledge of CELP standards and how to implement them into instruction

* Attend required/relevant professional development training offered through ATDN

Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Classified Personnel.
