Overview

Working within the Office of Student Affairs and the Office of Admissions and Financial Aid, and reporting to the Associate Dean of Student Affairs with a dotted line to the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid, the Associate Director of International Admissions and International Student Success works to support a newly developed global initiative aimed at expanding the corps of outstanding environmental leaders throughout the Global South by overcoming the barriers to advanced environmental education and training that many students from these countries and regions often encounter.

Students in the program will receive expanded tuition support; non-tuition support in the form of elimination of the application fee; support for English-language training prior to arrival on campus; a program of community-building events specifically focused on international students and their families once on campus; support for identifying and facilitating mentoring partnerships with YSE alumni from similar backgrounds; funding to support summer internships in their home countries, helping to lay the groundwork for their return.

This person will also work more broadly to increase the diversity of the Yale School of the Environment student body and support/enrich the cultural student experience of a global student community. Admissions and Financial Aid. Serve as a contact for prospective and admitted students, with primary responsibility for supporting prospective and admitted international students. Engaging with constituents daily to provide information and guidance regarding YSE programs, the admissions process and requirements, policies, procedures, and associated topics.

Devise, develop, and implement recruitment strategies and diversity and inclusion-related programming broadly. Lead and execute virtual, on-campus, and off-campus events to attract and recruit the strongest and most globally diverse student body. Analyze data on international markets, develop and implement strategic recruitment, communications streams, and marketing and yield plans for prospective international students while driving strategic actions to ensure that admissions goals are met.

Collaborate with faculty, colleagues, students, and alumni to design programs and develop strategic relationships with international universities and organizations for the identification and cultivation of prospects leading to enrollment.

Foster relationships with counselors at overseas schools, QS partners, and comparable global organizations to help maintain a pipeline of talented and diverse international students. Serve as a member of the Admissions Committee, responsible for evaluating application files to determine student eligibility for admission to the School; process and evaluating applications and transcripts. Responsible for planning and participating in international recruitment travel;

must be willing and able to travel abroad as needed. Student Affairs. Create and plan events, programs and office initiatives related to international student advocacy, cultural adjustment, development of intercultural competencies and multicultural sensitivities. Work to create a strong cohort experience in support of the program scholars. In collaboration with the Student Affairs team, create and lead the work of the inaugural YSE International Student Working Group to identify areas of improvement and gather data to enhance future international student programs.

Design and implement the execution of the first-year international student orientation program. Create appropriate schedules, determine content, and program materials.
