The Foote School seeks a talented, energetic individual to join its faculty as a full-time Lower School Associate Teacher. The Foote School is an independent K–9 all-gender day school in New Haven, Connecticut. We believe children learn best when meaningful challenge is balanced with time to be children, so our days combine experiential learning, thoughtful inquiry, and space to grow.

The successful candidate will be a nurturing, adaptable person who understands the developmental and cognitive needs of young children and who can teach collaboratively in a creative, cooperative environment. In addition, he or she will have a commitment to our school’s mission and an interest in being involved in our community through participation in school-wide committees and activities.
Job Responsibilities:- Co-plan and present lessons.
- Lead small literacy and math groups.
- Prepare and gather materials for lessons and projects.
- Correct student work.
- Assist with writing and proofreading student reports.
- Supervise recess and drop off/pick up.
- Supervise children in the After School Program (ASP).
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- Experience working with elementary-aged children.
- A passion for learning.
- Strong personal and interpersonal skills.
Associate teachers may be asked to assume classroom responsibility in case of illness or the absence of the Head Teacher.

Annual salary is $30,000. This is a full-time, 10-month, salaried exempt position. The school year hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m.
- 4:00 p.m., with summers and school holidays off.
