Position
Early Childhood Coach – Office of Academics, Teaching & Learning
Reports toDirector of Early Childhood
Primary FunctionThe Early Childhood Coach provides support and leadership to teachers, CDAs, and para educators to ensure the successful implementation of all district preschool programming.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities- Collaborate with District Lead for Early Childhood to monitor the implementation of all preschool programming.
- Provide on-site coaching and modeling of curriculum and instruction along with classroom visits at multiple school sites.
- Peer Coaching to provide Teachers, CDAs, and Paraeducators with supportive feedback on implementation of all preschool curriculum.
- Monitor the alignment of classroom best practices to state (school readiness) and national (NAEYC) standards for early childhood education.
- Monitor preschool assessments; analyze results with preschool staff to help form instructional goals based on students’ performance level; identify students that require additional interventions and provide classroom intervention support for differentiated instruction.
- Plan and implement professional learning in all areas of early childhood development for preschool staff.
- Support preschool programming with maintaining NAEYC accreditation.
- Submit reports to district office for the purpose of reporting and data analysis.
- Competently perform the duties specified above and any other related duties assigned by the department. This does not include substitute teaching.
- Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
- Successful teaching experiences working within the early childhood field for a minimum of five years.
- Previous early childhood coaching experience preferred.
- Must be flexible in daily schedule and available before and after regular school day.
- Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge, experience, and expertise in conducting professional learning sessions.
- Knowledge, experience, and expertise of instructional methods and materials for Early Childhood.
- Knowledge of state and national standards for early childhood education and developmental milestones for young children.
- Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with students, administrators, teachers, paraprofessionals, and CDAs.
- Ability to organize and manage time efficiently.
Current Connecticut Certification in Early Childhood Education
Salary and Terms of EmploymentSalary Grid:
In accordance with Hartford Federation of Teachers contract
