OverviewThe Revenue Cycle Training Specialist position is within Yale Medicine Training & Development supporting the Revenue Cycle Operations team. This role is responsible for developing and delivering revenue cycle training programs and quality data analytics for Yale Medicine revenue cycle management and frontline staff. The position will assess training needs and design, develop, and implement revenue cycle programs across Yale Medicine.
This highly visible role involves partnering with Yale Medicine's business unit managers and leaders to provide training and learning programs across various job levels and groups within the Yale School of Medicine’s clinical practice.
Skills and Abilities
- Expertise in Adult Learning Principles: A master learning facilitator who has a deep understanding of adult learning theories and principles, employing active learning, experiential learning, and self‑directed learning to engage medical professionals.
- Revenue Cycle and Technical Proficiency: A strong grasp of revenue cycle concepts, medical terminology, procedures, and current healthcare and revenue cycle operations technologies.
- Technology Fluency:
Mastery of general technology skills and the ability to apply transferable technical skills across various platforms and systems, including industry‑standard instructional design tools. - Platform and Systems Proficiency:
Fluency in Epic Professional Billing and other revenue cycle platforms to design and deliver technical training and develop quality reports and performance improvement instruments. - Effective Communication and Interpersonal
Skills:
Excellent communication to convey complex information clearly, strong interpersonal skills to build rapport, foster a collaborative learning environment, and address learner concerns.
Skills and Abilities
- Revenue Cycle Informaticist Epic Certification:
Ability to use analytics tools like Slicer Dicer, dashboards, and productivity scorecards; coordinate with IT and business intelligence to provide training and operational solutions. - Professional Billing Epic Certification.
- Deliver learning and development programs through instructor‑led classes, webinars, eLearning, small group facilitation, 1:1 coaching, and self‑directed reference materials.
- Apply instructional design (ADDIE) methodology when developing and delivering learning programs; design eLearning outlines and storyboards as needed.
- Build relationships with business unit leaders and managers during program initiation, execution, and follow‑up.
- Analyze user needs and create proposals for new training programs or systems.
- Apply project management skills to oversee timelines, deliverables, and monitor risks during program development and implementation.
- Conduct on‑site performance observations to identify knowledge, skill, and behavior gaps in the learning population.
- Organize classroom schedules, secure facility and technical resources, and monitor enrollment and registration.
- Collect feedback on training quality and delivery through evaluations and surveys; assimilate results, develop key performance indicators (KPIs), and report on program effectiveness.
- Develop and implement measures to address identified deficiencies and enhance the program.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources, organizational communication, or a related field. 3–5 years of experience designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating leadership development, operations training, and performance improvement initiatives.
