The EVOLUTIONS Fellow position is an intensive year-long fellowship as part of the EVOLUTIONS teen Program at the Peabody Museum. Open to alumni of the EVOLUTIONS Program who hold a bachelor's degree or above, the EVOLUTIONS Fellow will develop management and teaching skills while serving the Education department of the Yale Peabody Museum. This is a one-year fellowship with the potential of renewal for a second year.

With support from the Assistant Manager of Youth Programs, the EVOLUTIONS Fellow will learn to plan, develop, and implement programming for the Peabody Museum. Regular responsibilities include; develop curriculum development and lesson plan writing skills, and practice those skills in a variety of museum contexts. Facilitate daily programs and classes, honing teaching and science communication skills, develop science content knowledge through interactions with Peabody collections staff.

Shadow the supervision of activities and events for program participant and museum visitors. Participate in activities to develop relationships with informal educators across Yale's campus and throughout New Haven. Support the department with any other projects as assigned. The EVOLUTIONS Fellow will also have the opportunity to participate in intensive professional development and training, including Yale training workshops, conference sessions, mentorship, and career development activities.

This is a 30-hour per week internship with a variable schedule including weekends and evenings.

Skills and Abilities

1. Proven experience with YPM's EVOLUTIONS Program.
2. Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills. Proven ability to engage and motivate high school students.
3. Strong organizational skills.
4. Proven experience in informal science education. Ability to communicate science content to students and translate science concepts and content into programming.
5. Commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility and inclusion.

Preferred

Skills and Abilities

1. Alumni of the EVOLUTIONS Program at the Peabody Museum.
2. Bachelor's degree in science education, psychology, or a related field.
3. Excellent science content knowledge.

Principal Responsibilities
1. Supports and coordinates a range of academic programs.
2. Works on various programs throughout the year; including researching and writing of highly confidential material and working with other departments within the University.
3. Interacts with faculty, students and staff within and outside of the University. 4. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
