ESL - Beginners Instructor Part-Time

Level: Classroom Instructor

Education:

Bachelor's degree with 088 teaching in ESL or 111 Tesol endorsement

Experience:

Minimum 1-2 years teaching ESL in adult education setting

Additional Requirements:

Computer literate and familiar with Google Classroom

Position Summary:

Teaching English at a beginners level to multilingual adult learners. Instruction will be based on CELP standards with a strong emphasis on improving conversation skills. The ideal candidate will have experience and knowledge at this level of instruction with students from a variety of cultural backgrounds and native languages. Bilingual Spanish/English speakers are preferred. Our goal is to provide ESL instruction to students that will enable them to transition into intermediate/advanced class.

Minimum Qualifications/Skills and Knowledge Requirements:

• Valid CT teaching certification with 088 ESL instruction endorsement
• Ability to interpret data from placement test to inform instruction
• Flexibility in lesson planning and instruction
• Knowledge of CELP standards and how to implement them into instruction
• Attend required/relevant professional development training offered through ATDN

Evaluation:
