Graphic Design Instructor

Teach graphic design to kids while supporting a mission-driven nonprofit. Arts4

Schools is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing high-quality arts education for children and schools. In this onsite role in New Haven, CT
, you will deliver meaningful, progressive, hands-on graphic design lessons that help students move from imagination to finished digital work.

This position focuses on students ages 7 to 12
. Using Chromebooks and web-based graphic design tools
, you will guide learners through core design fundamentals, build confidence, and help them complete projects they can be proud to present. The goal is more than teaching software skills; students develop understanding of the art and process behind graphic design.

• Teach graphic design fundamentals to children ages 7 to 12
• Deliver structured, age-appropriate lessons that support skill growth across the program
• Instruct students on creating designs using Chromebook-compatible programs and applications
• Introduce and reinforce core concepts including color, typography, layout, composition, branding, digital illustration, and visual communication
• Lead hands-on projects such as flyers, posters, logos, digital artwork, and other creative designs
• Encourage creativity and individual artistic expression
• Maintain an engaging, positive, and organized classroom environment
• Support students in finishing complete projects ready for presentation

• Experience in graphic design, digital art, visual communications, or a related field
• Comfort working with Chromebooks and web-based graphic design programs
• Experience teaching or working with children, preferably ages 7 to 12
• Ability to explain graphic design concepts in a way children can understand
• Traits that support a strong learning environment:
  patience, energy, creativity, dependability, and professionalism
• Ability to develop more extensive lessons rather than relying on independent computer activities
• Classroom management skills that keep students excited about learning

Compensation: USD 25 to 30 per hour.
