Role Snapshot:
Title:
Project Engineer – Heavy Civil (Highway & Bridge)
Location:
Oxford, CT
Compensation: $60,000 – $80,000 Base
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Support Superintendents and Project Managers with day‑to‑day project execution
- Prepare, review, submit, and track shop drawings and technical submittals
- Maintain project documentation, logs, and daily reports
- Assist with project scheduling, coordination, and look‑ahead planning
- Track change orders, extra work, quantities, labor, equipment, and materials
- Provide technical review of field work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications
- Coordinate long‑lead material procurement critical to project schedules
- Review subcontractor and supplier compliance with contract requirements
- Monitor project costs by reviewing approved and coded invoices
- Assist with quality control and inspection of subcontractor operations
- Support correspondence with DOT agencies, subcontractors, and vendors
- Utilize construction technology to track RFIs, COs, budgets, quantities, and schedules
- Attend project meetings and jobsite walks as needed
- Assist with field office setup, logistics, and special projects
What Is Sought:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
- 1+ year of CTDOT project exposure
- 1+ year of highway construction experience
- 3+ years of concrete construction experience
- Experience with budgeting, cost tracking, and quantity tracking
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and specifications
- Ability to work closely with field teams in an active jobsite environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction management software
- Valid driver’s license
