Job Overview
Electrical Engineer in the Access Controls Group focusing on PCB and electro‑mechanical assembly test equipment and processes. The role involves designing, prototyping, and validating electronic hardware test solutions for next‑generation access control products, collaborating across functions from concept through pilot production to ensure reliability and manufacturability. The position reports directly to the Lead Engineer and is based onsite in New Haven, CT.
WhatYou Will Be Doing
- Work closely with hardware, firmware/software, mechanical, manufacturing, and QA teams to drive new product innovation.
- Participate in Pre‑Product Innovation (PPI), New Product Innovation (NPI), and Continuous Product Innovation (CPI) initiatives.
- Translate product requirements into test plans and execute automated test equipment and processes.
- Collaborate with Test and Manufacturing teams to ensure testability and manufacturability throughout the product lifecycle.
- Build, debug, and improve test equipment, and implement hardware troubleshooting solutions.
- Apply SAFe principles to improve workflows, reduce design cycle times, and enhance product quality.
- Own day‑to‑day project tasks, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met on schedule.
- Communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams and external vendors to track progress and resolve issues.
- Contribute to project documentation, risk assessments, and change management processes.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of analog, digital, and embedded hardware principles.
- Skilled in using test equipment (oscilloscopes, DVMs, function generators, logic/protocol analyzers) for troubleshooting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; able to present technical information clearly.
- Experience working in both small teams and on global projects.
