We are seeking a Weld Engineer to support the development, optimization, and execution of welding processes for complex metal fabrications. This role combines hands‑on welding expertise with engineering responsibilities, including process development, fixture design, and quality oversight.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working both on the production floor and in a design/engineering capacity, and thrives in an environment that requires independence, problem‑solving, and cross‑functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, qualify, and document welding procedures (WPS/PQR) for a variety of materials, including stainless steel
- Establish and maintain welding standards, including pre‑ and post‑weld heat treatment requirements
- Design and implement welding fixtures and tooling to support production efficiency and repeatability
- Evaluate and improve existing welding processes to enhance quality, throughput, and cost efficiency
- Support production teams with hands‑on troubleshooting of welding and fabrication challenges
- Oversee weld inspection activities and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards
- Collaborate with quality teams to maintain compliance with ISO 9000 or similar quality systems
- Partner with supply chain to identify and qualify vendors for welding consumables and outsourced weldments
- Stay current on new welding technologies and recommend improvements where applicable
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering, Welding Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent hands‑on experience (7–12+ years) in welding and fabrication
- Hands‑on welding experience, including stainless steel applications
- Experience developing or supporting welding procedures (WPS/PQR)
- Familiarity with weld inspection standards; AWS CWI or equivalent certification preferred (Level II or similar accepted)
- Working knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9000, ASME, or AWS codes
- Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as Solid Works; familiarity with AutoCAD 2D is a plus
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications
- Experience in industrial equipment, pressure vessels, piping systems, or heavy fabrication
- Background in fixture or tooling design for welding applications
- Experience supporting both engineering and production teams in a manufacturing environment
- Hands‑on role with a mix of shop floor and office‑based work
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Minimal travel required
- Frequent standing, walking, and use of tools or machinery
- Occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs) and carrying (up to 25 lbs)
- Repetitive hand and wrist motion associated with equipment use
- Occasional bending, climbing, and manual manipulation tasks
This position offers the opportunity to play a key role in shaping welding processes and production capabilities within a growing and agile environment. The role is ideal for individuals who enjoy applying both technical knowledge and hands‑on expertise to solve complex fabrication challenges.
