Position: Lake Compounce - House Lead (Phantom Fall Fest)

Job Summary

The House Lead assists with ensuring that all costumed events are successfully executed to deliver outstanding guest satisfaction. This position focuses on leading and directing team members to provide scary and realistic character performances that meet the set standards and intent of the event.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and motivate a team of scare actors to successfully execute the event.
  • Lead by example, demonstrating Lake Compounce’s core values.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to all assigned team members.
  • Ensure compliance with company and industry best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Be knowledgeable of performing the essential duties of all performance‑related positions and backfill these positions when needed.
  • Participate in new‑hire orientation and training activities for all assigned employees.
  • Ensure that all required meal and other breaks are given in accordance with Lake Compounce policy.
  • Comply with all federal and state labor laws (e.g., Child Labor laws).
  • Assist with team scheduling and timekeeping activities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, conveying a positive and friendly attitude and engaging with guests in a fun and exciting manner.
  • Monitor team members during performance time to ensure costumes and makeup are suitable for the event.
  • Train a team of scare actors in acting techniques that bring realism and excitement to the event’s theme.
  • Perform as a scare actor to provide a hauntingly good time for all guests.
  • Remain in character throughout scheduled shifts, using noises, posture changes, and walk when appropriate.
  • Interact with guests in a professional and creative manner while performing.
  • Scare guests as they move through scare zones throughout the park.
  • Greet all guests in the scariest way possible.
  • Demonstrate control, restraint, and awareness to minimize escalation of situations where a guest may become overly scared.
  • Maintain a safe environment, keeping at least an arm’s distance between self and guests, keeping escape routes clear, and following all safety standards.
  • Continuously monitor the event to identify potential threats or hazards and report issues to the proper park authorities promptly.
Requirements
  • Pass an audition and/or character training for this role.
  • Be at least 16 years of age to comply with Connecticut Child Labor Laws.
  • Be able to obtain a Performance Work Permit if required by state law.
  • Have a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and the Halloween season if open.
  • Work 20+ hours per week when needed.
  • Have reliable transportation to and from work for scheduled shifts.
  • Comply with all grooming standards, uniform and/or costume requirements.
  • Immersive in role and remain in character throughout the performance.
  • Possess strong cardio endurance, physical storytelling abilities, and performance energy.
  • Be playful, outgoing, friendly, and convey a positive, guest‑centric attitude.
  • Possess effective verbal and non‑verbal acting and communication skills.
  • Follow direction, multitask, and work as part of a fast‑paced team.
  • Fluency in English;
    Spanish or other bilingual skills are a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand, walk, and remain on feet for majority of the workday.
  • Wear assigned costume for extended periods.
  • Stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders frequently.
  • Perform in costumes that may limit sight lines.
  • Carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more.
