Role SummaryThe Wardrobe Assistant is responsible for helping team members get into costume for special events, assisting with costume fittings and repairs, and collaborating with the Hair & Makeup Supervisor, Costume Specialist, and Makeup Artists to create cohesive looks for all Halloween characters.
Responsibilities- Engage with guests and team members in a fun and welcoming manner.
- Conduct fittings for performers and staff, ensuring costumes are comfortable, safe, and visually effective.
- Assist character performers with costuming needs, adding or removing costumes, mending, and storing costumes.
- Maintain an organized inventory of all costumes, accessories, and supplies.
- Collaborate with the event team, including directors, managers, performers, makeup artists, and maze hosts, to ensure performers are ready on schedule.
- Monitor assigned areas, identify hazards, and report to the proper authorities.
- Ensure compliance with park policies, procedures, and labor laws.
- Perform any other duties assigned by leadership.
- At least 16 years old to comply with Connecticut Child Labor Laws.
- Ability to obtain working papers if under 18.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Reliable transportation to and from work for scheduled shifts.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to resolve questions and concerns professionally.
- Previous special‑effects makeup experience and portfolio preferred.
- Ability to follow direction, multi‑task, and work as part of a fast‑paced team.
- Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.
- No specific education requirement; prior acting or costume character experience desired.
- Stand, walk, and remain on feet for the majority of the workday.
- Remain seated for extended periods while applying makeup.
- Frequent stooping, twisting, kneeling, bending, squatting, and reaching above shoulders.
- Carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 50 pounds or more.
- Use hands to grasp, control, and move objects or tools consistently.
- See details of objects more than a few feet away.
Frequent exposure to outdoor and indoor park areas with variable temperatures, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, ice, and other weather conditions. Work may involve frequent interruptions, repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, and heavily populated environments.
