Director of Finance Requirements & Qualifications
  • BS in Accounting or CPA
  • Experience in commercial or multi-family real estate
  • Strong background in third party auditing and deep expertise in auditing standards
  • Previous experience in a Controller or equivalent senior financial management role
  • Solid GAAP accounting and reporting knowledge, including month-end close
  • Demonstrated experience in policy, procedure, and internal controls improvements
  • Proficiency with budget development, analysis, and ongoing monitoring
  • Strong understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Experience producing timely and accurate financial statements and reports in accordance with GAAP and public company standards
Director of Finance Preferred Background & Skills
  • Familiarity with Rent Manager software.
  • Exposure to SEC or IFRS reporting.
  • Experience in real estate acquisition analysis.
  • CPA credential preferred.
Director of Finance Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll processes.
  • Produce quarterly internal reporting and support semiannual audited reports and tax filings.
  • Spearhead budget preparation, maintenance, analysis, and ongoing performance monitoring.
  • Approve payments and manage cash flow, liquidity, and bank reconciliations.
  • Implement enhancements to accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls with a focus on technology-driven process improvement.
  • Maximize and optimize the use of current accounting software across the organization.
  • Oversee administration of property transactions, including acquisitions, sales, and refinances.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for third-party audit and tax compliance.
  • Provide oversight for IT policies and third-party consultants.
  • Maintain and organize legal and financial documentation.
  • Assist in reviewing potential acquisitions and analyzing ROI and performance of existing assets.
  • Ensure compliance with banking and financing requirements, including insurance coverage.
  • Deliver strategic financial advice to support overall business goals.
