This is a regular, hybrid full-time position at our New Haven, Connecticut facility.

The Financial Controller is a highly organized, self-motivated, and experienced individual to support the global operations, with a particular focus on the company’s day-to-day financial and payroll activities along with its short and long-term financial planning.

This position will be responsible for overseeing and performing the company’s day-to-day financial and administrative activities along with short and long-term financial planning. In addition, this position will be a key participant and, in certain cases, lead the development of sales proposals and quotations. This is a highly collaborative role, and this position is expected to develop and maintain strong relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and serve as backup for the company accounting team. Perform accounting setup and ongoing day-to-day bookkeeping services such as:
  • Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, and Customer Invoicing. Services include but are not limited to receiving, recording, processing, and verifying transactions.
  • Reconcile the company’s bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers
  • Manage income and expenditure accounts, and completing analysis of expenditures
  • Review for accuracy reports, figures, and postings
  • Reconcile and report any discrepancies found in the records
  • Oversee financial activities, ensure financial and regulatory compliance, and prepare consolidated financial statements of our subsidiary company(ies)
  • Develop financial plans, forecasts, and budget
  • Run short and long-term analysis, trends, and forecasting
  • Make recommendations to company leadership
  • Collaborate with accounting, payroll, and other service providers on a regular basis as part of day-to-day, monthly, annual, and event-driven activities including annual fiscal reporting and audits
  • Establish, implement, and track financial metrics
  • Partner with and cultivate relationships with key financial institutions
  • Build and scale financial systems and operational controls to support business growth
  • Partner with the executive team to design and execute a broader financial strategy, transforming financial data into actionable insights
  • Identify opportunities to implement departmental process efficiencies
  • Oversee the administration of the company’s 401K plan including but not limited to administering compliance documents, employee contribution compliance, and serving as the liaison between the organization and the external retirement plan third party administrator
  • Recommend and ensure sufficient controls and monitoring are in place that meet required accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Qualifications and Requirements:

Required:

  • 7 years of experience with or knowledge of U.S. accounting principles such as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), including the recording and measurement of business or financial transactions in any field of practice.
  • Strong interpersonal and people management skills; ability to work productively both independently and as part of team, and the ability to cultivate strong relationships with individuals of varied backgrounds
  • Demonstrated experience with fast‑paced team environment; comfort with ambiguity and flexible about changing dynamics and priorities
  • Strong competencies for and/or direct experience managing staff members.
