  • Develop and maintain programs, services, and resources that support staff competency and ongoing professional development
  • Oversee staffing patterns to ensure adequate coverage across all units and shifts
  • Provide nursing leadership through supervision, education, and identification of staff development needs to maintain high standards of care
  • Direct or assist in planning and managing nursing and clinical activities
  • Contribute to the formulation of program goals, objectives, and policies, incorporating current research and recognized professional standards
  • Evaluate staff performance and provide feedback for improvement
  • Maintain collaborative relationships within and outside the department to support program activities
  • Ensure delivery of optimal, safe, and high-quality patient care
  • Develop and implement continuous quality improvement programs to assess and enhance nursing care, treatment, and services
  • Build and lead productive teams, manage crisis situations and investigate unusual incidents
  • Compile data, prepare reports, and lead or participate in meetings
  • Coordinate and ensure 24-hour nursing coverage for assigned units or facilities
  • Participate in recruitment and hiring processes, including outreach, interviewing, and selection; and
  • Provide direct patient care and represent nursing/clinical services as needed

CMHC is an urban community mental health center with an exceptional 50-year tradition of serving individuals with serious mental illness and/or addiction. Founded in 1966, CMHC is a partnership between DHMAS and the Yale Department of Psychiatry. Each year over 4,000 people receive a variety of recovery-oriented services at CMHC and its satellite clinics.

CMHC is nationally recognized for its scientific research into the causes and treatment of mental illness and addiction. The Abraham Ribicoff Research Facilities include multiple research programs in a variety of areas. CMHC is also a major training site for individuals pursuing careers in mental health fields including psychiatry, psychology, social work, nursing, and pastoral care.
