The Connecticut Mental Health Center (CMHC), under the umbrella of the State of Connecticut, Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (DMHAS) is seeking an experienced and mission-drive Clinical Social Worker (PCN 26543) to join and be a vital member our Clinical Services team in New Haven.

Position Highlights
  • Full-time (40 hours/week), Monday - Friday
  • First shift, 8:30 a.m. 5:00 p.m.

This position plays a key role in providing evidence‑based clinical care to a caseload of individuals living with serious mental illness, co‑occurring conditions, and other complex challenges. Responsibilities include completing a range of clinical assessments and delivering individual, family, and group interventions.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide evidence‑based clinical services to a caseload of individuals with serious mental illness and co‑occurring substance use disorders.
  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments using multiple clinical tools.
  • Deliver individual, family, and group therapy tailored to clients with chronic and complex needs.
  • Support clients who frequently utilize emergency rooms, homeless shelters, food pantries, and other community resources.
  • Address barriers related to trauma, incarceration, housing instability, financial strain, and unmet medical or mental health needs.
  • Maintain treatment for a full caseload following the departure and advancement of a former team member.

Founded in 1966, CMHC is a partnership between DHMAS and the Yale Department of Psychiatry. Each year over 4,000 people receive a variety of recovery-oriented services at CMHC and its satellite clinics.

CMHC is nationally recognized for its scientific research into the causes and treatment of mental illness and addiction. The Abraham Ribicoff Research Facilities include multiple research programs in a variety of areas. CMHC is also a major training site for individuals pursuing careers in mental health fields including psychiatry, psychology, social work, nursing, and pastoral care.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In a state agency behavioral health program as part of a multi-disciplinary team at one or more locations this class is accountable for independently providing clinical social work services.

OFFICE OF HEALTHCARE ADVOCATE:
