Recovery Support Specialist to function as a member of the Assertive Community Treatment (ACT ) for Recovery  this role, you will use shared life experience, recovery-oriented tools, and person-centered practices to engage, motivate, and mentor adults as they work toward their personal recovery goals.

• The Recovery Support Specialist provides coaching and guidance to assist individuals in identifying recovery goals, support networks, employment and/or educational opportunities.
• Utilizing their own lived experience as well as evidence-based Illness Management techniques, this position seeks to engage individuals who might not otherwise respond to treaters and to provide education around client rights and responsibilities, tools for recovery and management of mental health, substance use and medical issues.
• May assist with medical/dental/vision needs and appointments and may provide transportation as needed.
• Documents in the medical records, including electronic documentation, as per policies and procedures, and performs other related duties as assigned.

DMHAS is the state agency responsible for providing a comprehensive system of behavioral health services for adults experiencing mental health and substance use conditions across Connecticut. DMHAS works to ensure accessible, recovery-oriented, and evidence-based care through community programs, state-operated services, and partnerships with local providers. The agency is committed to improving outcomes for individuals with severe and persistent behavioral health needs by coordinating services, promoting early access to care, and supporting safe transitions across levels of treatment.

CMHC is an urban community mental health center with an exceptional 50-year tradition of serving individuals with serious mental illness and/or addiction. Founded in 1966, CMHC is a partnership between DHMAS and the Yale Department of Psychiatry. Each year over 4,000 people receive a variety of recovery-oriented services at CMHC and its satellite clinics.

CMHC is nationally recognized for its scientific research into the causes and treatment of mental illness and addiction. The Abraham Ribicoff Research Facilities include multiple research programs in a variety of areas. CMHC is also a major training site for individuals pursuing careers in mental health fields including psychiatry, psychology, social work, nursing, and pastoral care.

The Assertive Community Treatment (ACT ) for Recovery is a a mobile, multi-disciplinary team, provides ahigher level of care to adults with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders who are in need of intensive community supports. The ACT program follows and complies withthe federal and state ACT fidelity requirements to ensure positive outcomes and gives priority to those individuals that are leaving state psychiatric inpatient programs, nursing homes and prisons.
