Job SummaryOperates diagnostic radiologic equipment, Computerized Tomography or Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment for diagnostic purposes.
Minimum EducationCompletion of an accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
Licensure, Registration and/or CertificationRegistration from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists ARRT). Current CPR Certification.
Work Experience6 months to 1 year of related experience.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of radiographic exposure techniques and protocols
- DR exposure techniques and protocols, Computerized Tomography, and/or Magnetic Resonance Imaging technical principles and procedures
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Ability to properly administer pharmaceuticals intravenously for imaging procedures
- Knowledge of sharps usage practices and techniques
- Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Ability to integrate the analysis of data to discover facts or develop knowledge, concepts or interpretations
- Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner
- Ability to be detailed oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data
- Position patient and adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimum views of specified area of body requested by provider
- Explain procedures to allow for understanding, cooperation and to reduce anxiety of patient
- Administer appropriate pharmaceuticals pursuant to procedure, place IV's and administer enemas as required
- Practice radiation protection techniques by using beam restrictive devices and applicable exposure factors to minimize radiation to the patient, staff and others as necessary
- Obtain acceptable images using appropriate techniques and protocols
- Acquire and disseminate patient information data for exam order using Hospital EMR System
- Appropriately document information in patient charts as required or necessary
- Perform quality control checks to ensure proper operating status
- Maintains examination rooms and stock necessary supplies pursuant to established protocols
Independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
