OverviewLicensed Mental Health Clinician position available within Yale Department of Psychiatry's Juvenile Justice Mental Health program at a contracted judicial placement facility in Bridgeport, CT. Position entails providing assessment and treatment to pre-adjudicated court-involved adolescent/emerging adult adolescents. This position also includes facilitating trainings for custody and clinical staff.
Schedule:
Part-time, 20 hours per week. Flexibility is required to work shifts between the hours of 8:30 AM - 7:00 PM. Work during recess periods is required.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to provide clinical assessment and diagnosis for adolescents using the DSM 5.
- Ability to complete detailed psychosocial assessments and multi-disciplinary treatment plans and document within an electronic medical record.
- Ability to assess and treat adolescents with mental health, substance use and/or behavioral problems using DBT and other evidence-based and best practices.
- Ability to provide training and consultation to clinical and residential staff.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- CT LCSW or CT LPC required.
Education and Experience
Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field and two years of experience in a psychiatric care setting or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
Principal Responsibilities- Plans and coordinates services for family and group therapy programs, parent groups and discharge programs.
- Provides direct psychotherapeutic treatment to severely ill individuals and families and supervises other assigned staff members.
- Completes psychosocial assessments, mental status examinations, and diagnostic assessments and translates this information into medically necessary, multidisciplinary treatment plans.
- Provides individual and group therapy consistent with evidence-based practice protocols for primary mental health, addiction, and co-occurring populations.
- Develops new techniques for family treatment and clinical supervision of students. Anticipates problems and determines priorities.
- Evaluates treatment progress and presents findings and recommendations for change at treatment team meetings.
- Coordinates and provides clinical case management services, including referrals to appropriate levels of care.
- Provides crisis intervention and clinical triage to facilitate necessary services, such as inpatient hospitalization, when indicated.
- Researches, develops and implements programs which enhance both inpatient and outpatient services of unit. Monitors discharge status of patients.
- Collaborates with families, medical and clinical staff, administrators, insurance agencies, etc. to assure their integration into the treatment planning process, as indicated.
- Supervises a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Master's Degree in Social Work and two years of experience in a psychiatric care setting or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
Required License(s) or Certification(s)State of Connecticut Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or State of Connecticut Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
