The Digital Production Manager will report to the Digital Content Services Librarian in the DSCA-Digital Studio which is a unit within Digital Special Collections and Access (DSCA) department of the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library (BRBL). DSCA provides leadership, services and strategic direction that enables access to digitized and born digital special collections content across Yale Library.
The DSCA-Digital Studio currently produces high resolution images for patron-driven digitization, exhibits, loans, and proactive digitization. This new position will allow the unit to expand its services to include Reference-quality digitization in its service portfolio.
The Digital Production Manager will manage the newly reimagined reference-quality digitization service track for Beinecke Library collections. This service track will create pdf copies of collection materials to fulfill reference requests from both Yale and non-Yale patrons. It is estimated that this service track will produce 250,000 – 300,000 images per year. The successful candidate in this position will also coordinate with digitization studios in DSCA and Preservation & Conservation Services to facilitate requests for publication-quality digitization, AV digitization, and Born-digital file transfers.
The Digital Production Manager will collaborate with staff within the department and across the library including Access Services & Operations, Academic Affairs & Instruction, Collections and Community Engagement, to establish standards-based workflows and technical specifications for this new digitization service track in line with the Digital Special Collections Policy for Yale Special Collections.
