The New Haven Free Public Library is seeking a dedicated and innovative Library Technology Supervisor to oversee and enhance the library's IT operations across its five branches. This role is responsible for managing network infrastructure, cloud services, and public-facing technologies, ensuring seamless digital access for both staff and patrons. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

This is a professional information technology position, responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, technology operations and projects across the New Haven Public Library system's five branches. Work involves maintenance, upgrades and migrations of the library's public technologies and staff infrastructure including:
Networks, Servers, Integrated Library Service (ILS - Innovative Interfaces, Inc.

- Sierra), Microsoft Endpoint (Intune) and Office 365, Meraki, and other technology needs. In this role, the Library Technology Supervisor addresses day-to-day technology needs, provides technical troubleshooting, and works with vendors to implement solutions that support efficient library operations. They manage technology-related projects, such as migrating to cloud-based systems and enhancing network security, ensuring all initiatives align with service goals. Work is performed with latitude for professional judgment and is reviewed through meetings and evaluation of results.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Monitors, maintains, and provides oversight of public technology services, library physical and cloud servers with library staff or external vendors, including but not limited to hybrid Microsoft Azure / Active Directory services, network access and firewall cybersecurity services, telephonic services, and print management. Plans coordinates, administers, and executes all IT activities required to produce reliable and robust network access in partnership with key vendors.

Oversees technology inventory management by tracking hardware and software assets, coordinating purchasing needs, and managing device replacements and upgrades as part of lifecycle management. Coordinates and manages data backups and disaster recovery planning for all critical library systems to ensure data integrity and continuity of service in the event of system failures or emergencies. Ensures that installation and application standards and policies are performed properly and kept up to date.

Supervises and trains Library personnel assigned to IT functions and coordinates daily work for staff such as public computer workstation support, hotspot printing, VoIP services, etc. Troubleshoots complex hardware and software issues encountered by staff and patrons. Other Technology duties as assigned.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems or related area. Requires 3 to 5 years progressively responsible experience in relevant areas noted above with at least six months of supervisory experience; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the knowledge, abilities, and skills listed below, preferably in a library setting.

Comp TIA, Microsoft, ITIL Certifications preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Knowledge of information technology operations, systems configuration, and administration. Knowledge of operating system software, application software, and hardware applications. Knowledge of network operating system software application and hardware applications. Ability to work independently at a high level of technical operations and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex IT issues independently and identify when to escalate issues to external vendors or support teams.

Knowledge of current cybersecurity principles and practices, including threat management, risk assessment, and data privacy compliance. Ability to demonstrate strong management and leadership skills in order to efficiently plan, organize, supervise, and manage library IT projects and LTA staff in a variety of activities, including troubleshooting, problem-solving, and training. Skill in developing and leading training programs for library staff and patrons, fostering technology proficiency and effective use of library resources.

Ability to monitor progress and manage resources to accomplish objectives. Familiarity with cloud computing platforms, such as Microsoft Azure, and ability to manage cloud-based solutions and hybrid environments. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in…
