We are seeking a Desktop Support Technician to manage and support a complete desktop computing environment for a designated department. This role requires a hands‑on IT professional with strong technical expertise, problem‑solving skills, and the ability to deliver high‑quality end‑user support.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and maintain the full desktop computing environment for assigned departments, including hardware, software, and user support.
- Administer Active Directory environments, including creating and maintaining organizational units (OUs) and implementing Group Policy changes.
- Proactively monitor and maintain operating systems and application software, ensuring all systems are current and compliant with organizational standards.
- Maintain inventory of hardware and peripherals, recommending upgrades or replacements and coordinating with vendors for procurement.
- Install, configure, and coordinate repair of desktops, laptops, and network‑connected devices and peripherals.
- Respond to and resolve both routine and urgent technical issues, supporting critical services such as email, scheduling systems, and backup solutions.
- Document incidents, service requests, and resolutions to ensure accurate tracking and knowledge sharing.
- Provide end‑user training and support to ensure effective use of desktop systems and applications.
- Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to ensure seamless integration of systems and technologies.
- Analyze and recommend technical solutions to improve department‑level computing efficiency and performance.
- Support technical projects, including testing and validating hardware and software solutions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation and contribute to process improvements.
- Train and mentor junior support staff and technicians.
- Perform other IT support duties as needed.
- Strong experience in desktop support or IT support in a professional environment.
- Hands‑on experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and endpoint management.
- Proficiency with Windows operating systems and enterprise applications.
- Experience supporting hardware, peripherals, and network‑connected devices.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work both independently and collaboratively.
Contract to Hire position based out of New Haven, CT.
Pay & BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
