Data Engineer – Enterprise Data Services & Operations (EDSO)
Position SummaryComprise a growing team that builds a modern, connected data ecosystem to accelerate analytics, AI, and insights across CVS Health and Aetna. The Engineer will design, build, and maintain scalable and secure data pipelines and solutions that enable data-driven decision making for the Health Care Business unit.
Responsibilities- Develop scalable, repeatable, and secure data structures and pipelines to organize, collect, standardize, and integrate data for accurate insights and reporting.
- Build efficient, high‑quality ETL/ELT processes using tools, programming languages, and services.
- Deliver data capabilities and new data products to accelerate investments and democratize data across the enterprise.
- Collaborate with data science teams to transform data and integrate algorithms and models into automated processes.
- Build data models, marts, and extracts to support Data Science, internal customers, and third‑party administrators.
- Analyze data, understand complex systems, and solve challenging data sourcing and integration problems.
- Promote engineering excellence by simplifying, optimizing, and automating processes and workflows.
- Innovate using agile techniques to achieve efficiency, boost productivity, and improve processes.
- 1+ year of hands‑on experience building and deploying data pipelines.
- 1+ year of experience using Python and an ETL tool.
- Experience with relational databases or Hadoop and strong SQL/HQL skills.
- Hands‑on experience building solutions in a public cloud environment (GCP, Azure, or AWS).
- Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
- Experience building ETL pipelines in Python or a similar technology.
- Knowledge of GCP services such as Big Query, Composer, Airflow, and Data Proc.
- Experience with Tableau, Alteryx, or Thought Spot.
- Basic understanding of Big Query and native Big Query tools.
- Experience with bash, UNIX utilities, CI/CD, and agile methodologies (e.g., SAFe).
- Healthcare domain experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, or a related discipline.
- Master’s degree or PhD preferred.
Location:
Hybrid – 3 days per week onsite at the Aetna office, Hartford, CT. Full‑time, 40 hours per week.
Pay Range: $67,980.00 – $ per year (base salary, subject to experience and other factors).
