Position Description

In this role you will be a member of the Endpoint Engineering and Public Computing Team. The team is responsible for managing several key services within IT, many which impact the entire community, including Endpoint Management tools, Managed Workstation Program, Virtual Desktop & Applications, Desktop Backup Service, Mobile Device Management, Software Packaging and Delivery, Public Computing, and others.

  • This role is responsible for the architecture/design, management, and support of our Microsoft Azure environment as it relates to endpoints.
  • Endpoint Engineering’s current Azure setup hosts storage accounts, key vaults, function apps, Azure Virtual Desktop, analytics, and more.
  • The successful candidate will drive various projects including increasing the Azure Virtual Desktop footprint for the enterprise, enhancing Azure and Azure endpoint security, researching, and implementing new technologies, etc.
  • Other duties related to the Azure environment include a heavy workload of packaging applications for automated deployment using Configuration Manager and Intune.
  • Other responsibilities include the management and resolution of problem/ticket escalation from various teams including helpdesk and support providers.
  • This position requires close and collaborative work with other IT peers including support teams, information security, systems engineers, etc. with occasional communication with end users.
Responsibilities
  • Provides technical expertise in resolving user system deficiencies and determines appropriate action.
  • Provides system services and analyze system performance for stakeholders and intended end users. Performs all activities necessary to activate a new operating system or new release of an existing system, including analysis, design, implementation, and related documentation. Analyzes systems performance and modifies programs to increase the efficiency of the operation. Reinstates integrity of system as quickly as possible following an outage in order to minimize item and data loss.
  • Recommends and authorizes system upgrades and software installations.
  • Designs, develops, and implements new system tools.
  • Analyzes execution time of commonly used instruction to identify and replaces those that are inefficient or slow to operation.
  • Analyzes, evaluates, and takes steps to circumvent problems and restores systems to operating condition.
  • Contributes to the determination of specifications and determines the combination of options needed to tailor an operating system to meet the business needs.
  • Conducts training and user education.
  • Research new technologies, processes, and methodologies.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
  • Expert level knowledge and hands-on experience in Microsoft Azure technologies including Azure Active Directory, Storage Accounts, Azure Virtual Desktop, Analytics, and automation tasks.
  • Experience automating workflows and tasks in Azure utilizing technologies such as function apps, image builder, and desired state configuration.
  • Extensive ability writing and analyzing complex Power Shell scripts and using Power Shell for automation and problem solving. Experience using Bash, Apple Script, and Python is a plus.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of software packaging and deployment to diverse endpoints. Understanding of self-service software distribution concepts.
  • Functional knowledge building and supporting Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate processes, tasks, and flows.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and a minimum of two years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred

    Education and Experience:

    Microsoft certification (AZ-900, AZ-140, SC-900, MS-900), ITILv3 Foundation.
