Overview
The Yale Center for British Art seeks an Interim Head of Information Technology to lead the Center's technology operations, establish and maintain IT policies and lead the team that supports the technology needs of all departments. Reporting to the Director of Operations and working with Yale University Information Technology Services, the Interim Head of IT has full responsibility for institutional IT systems at the Center and is the primary contact for the Center's IT systems.
The successful candidate is a deft manager able to work across the institution in support of a number of internal and external functions and capable of managing a variety of software, IT infrastructure, and hardware platforms. The Interim Head of IT oversees the work of the Center's information technology team, including software engineer and an ITS Distributed Support Provider to deliver constant, reliable and secure technology to all staff.
The Interim Head of Information Technology is a key member of the Center's management team dedicated to transforming online access to and research in British Art. The Interim Head of IT also represents the Center across Yale University and in the field of art museums nationally and internationally.
Oversee all technology operations for the Center. Provide leadership and direction for the Center's IT goals and plans, including application and hardware acquisition, vendor management, software development environments, staffing, and equipment. Supervise the Center's IT team, software engineer(s), and ITS Distributed Support Providers. Plan, advise, develop, implement and monitor IT projects across the Center and the University. Manage IT budget. Liaise with Center staff on the management of the website.
Direct the Center's use of Yale technology infrastructure including hardware, cloud services, and business applications, to include Windows and Mac, Amazon web services and Heroku platforms, SharePoint, MS Office, and Workday.
Oversee user support, technical training, server and network maintenance, security, and data backup systems. Plans and guides major purchases of computing hardware and software. Tracks and assesses the impact of IT infrastructure developments at Yale and elsewhere. Participates in and may lead project teams. Acts as a liaison with counterparts at other institutions, with vendors, and with university organizations and committees.
Manages and maintains the Center's IT inventory. Designs and delivers information and training sessions to various groups at the Center about IT matters.
Occasional after-hours and weekend work as needed. Perform other duties as assigned.
