OverviewReporting to the Director of Emergency Management, the Program Manager plays a key role in advancing Yale University’s Emergency Management programs. This position supports university-wide preparedness, response, recovery, and supports business continuity planning efforts to ensure the institution can effectively manage emergencies and minimize operational disruptions.
The role partners closely with schools, departments, research laboratories, and senior leadership to develop, implement, and sustain emergency operations and supports business continuity programs tailored to unit-specific needs while aligning with Yale’s overall emergency management strategy.
This position is designated as essential personnel and may require participation in on-call emergency response operations, including nights and weekends during emergencies or special events.
RequiredSkills and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of emergency management, disaster response, and business continuity principles and practices. Skilled in conducting impact analyses and continuity planning processes.
- Superior planning, organizational, analytical, writing, and presentation skills. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to lead programs and manage multiple priorities independently. Flexible and adaptable as program needs evolve.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); advanced Excel skills preferred. Experience managing complex databases and documentation systems.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

- Demonstrated success leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects.
- Experience advising executive leadership and driving cross-functional collaboration.
- Proven ability to establish partnerships, resolve conflict, and build consensus.
- Experience developing program metrics, tracking performance outcomes, and ensuring accountability.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of four years of professional experience in Emergency Management, Disaster Response, Business Continuity, or related field.
