ResponsibilitiesClinical Care:
Provide assessment, triage, and therapeutic management of patient/family needs across the disease spectrum. Collaborate with supervising physicians, obtain histories, perform exams, order diagnostics, formulate and manage treatment plans, and perform procedures and prescribe medications per institutional and state guidelines. The role may include autonomous practice for specific patient populations and serve as first or second operative assistant when within scope.Respond to emergency situations per YNHHS parameters.
Patient Education & Psychosocial Support:
Educate patients/families on care plans, resources, and potential side effects. Provide psychosocial support alongside multidisciplinary teams.Information Management:
Ensure documentation complies with hospital and regulatory requirements, protecting all forms of information from unauthorized access and accidental disclosure.Quality Management:
Demonstrate high ethical standards, professionalism, and compassion. Ensure compliance with all patient‑related regulatory requirements and standards.Professional Development:
Engage in projects to maintain and advance competency, serve as clinical resource and mentor, report safety events, and contribute to research, quality assurance, and protocol development.
- Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program.
- Clinical working experience as an NP/PA in the specialty/service line is preferred but not required.
- APRN, PA, CRNA, and CNM candidates must be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS hospital and complete the medical‑staff credentialing process, including reference letters.
- Active PA Certification (NCCPA), Connecticut State Physician Assistant License, ACLS/BLS Certified, DEA License (when indicated).
- Pediatric position profile: PALS; neonatal care: NRP certification.
- Additional certifications or continuing education may be required based on specialty.
- Alternative pathway:
Connecticut State Registered Nurse License, Connecticut State Nurse Practitioner License, or relevant board certification (with ACLS/BLS and DEA as required).
